The Italia Uganda Foundation NPO was founded in 2000 with the aim of supporting the work of Father Giovanni “John” Scalabrini,
a catholic missionary who lived in Uganda for over 50 years and who dedicated his entire life to the people of Uganda.
Having arrived in Uganda in 1964, he worked first in the North and then in the capital Kampala where he built schools and colleges,
an orphanage, a hospital and few laboratories around his mission.
He guaranteed education to thousands of orphans and children and to young people coming from poor families.
He also taught to hundreds of young and adult people a job.
After his passing in October 2016, the Foundation has continued to work following his footsteps: creating social value through the
education of the younger generations in order to construct communities which are able to take responsibility
for their future and to participate actively in the development of their own country.
